A new vision for our ward and our city
Our ward and city deserves better leadership than we have now. As Chicago moves into a new era, it needs fresh, independent leadership with new ideas to meet the challenges in our communities.
Wherever I go throughout the City of Chicago, I hear from people that we need change. So what do we do? The old way of doing things no longer works. We need to fundamentally change the way we lead this city, and the way our elected officials represent us.
I have spent the last couple of years as a first term Alderman working to change the old system. Introducing simple zoning and development guidelines to reign in rampant development in the 32nd Ward, passing legislation to get our foot in the door on TIF transparency, fighting outrageous privatization deals that benefit a few elite insiders, working with police and residents to build a better relationship between us, working closely with our area schools to improve curriculum and fight for infrastructure improvements, improving business opportunities in the ward and city, listening to ideas from children from across our city and so much more.
I will continue to provide that leadership. I am committed to working for the residents and businesses of our whole community. I will be an alderman who communicates regularly with you and is responsive to your needs and concerns.
I will work with citizens, neighborhood and business organizations, our neighboring aldermen and the mayor to improve the 32nd Ward and the City of Chicago by finding solutions to the issues we all face. My vision:
- I will have a ward administration that is open and transparent and friendly.
- I will improve ward services by working closely with city departments and local taxing bodies responsible for infrastructure improvements on our streets, parks and water systems.
- I will work to curtail rising property taxes. Waste and corruption have led to rising property taxes. Waste and corruption will end in our ward and I will fight to stop it at City Hall.
- I will encourage a balanced, planned approach to zoning and development with input from citizens and neighborhood and business organizations. I will end zoning changes that are inappropriate for our neighborhoods and only benefit certain developers.
- I will work closely with our educators and parents to provide our children with better education opportunities.
